If your broiler works but the main baking setting stays completely cold, your lower bake element has likely burnt out or physically split. You can often spot this visually by looking for tiny blisters, cracks, or a complete break along the black metal loop at the bottom of your oven. If there is no visible damage, the issue could stem from a faulty oven control board or a failed thermal fuse. Constant clicking typically means the electronic ignition spark is working fine, but gas cannot reach the spark or moisture is shorting out the circuit. This is frequently caused by boiled-over liquids or grease clogging the tiny holes on the underside of your burner cap or inside the burner tube assembly. Cleaning the burner head gently with a stiff brush and drying it out completely usually clears the path. If it continues to click after a thorough cleaning, the spark switch assembly or the gas valve itself may be failed and need replacement.

When food consistently burns on one side or takes significantly longer to bake than normal, your oven temperature sensor calibration has likely drifted out of spec, or your hidden convection fan motor is failing to circulate heat. If the sensor probe at the back of the oven reads internal temperatures incorrectly, the control board will leave the element on for too long.
